Announcement: Proudly Supporting Every One Eats

You might be aware that supporting the less fortunate is very close to my heart. Yes, getting out on track with Damon, Johnny and Perry was great fun, but the main focus of that day was to support the Halow Project (see Supporting Damon Hill's The Halow Project).

On a similar note I have been admiring Lindsey Rice's "Every One Eats" charity. I first became aware of Lindsey and her charity work through her husband Paul, who is a central figure in the JSCC paddock. Being a mechanic first for Wheatley Motorsport and now for Orex Motorsport, he also races with Track Action and always makes sure that every one is well looked after (I believe my dad has been continuously benefitting from Paul's cooking). My whole family have been following Lindsey and Paul on Facebook and we have been amazed at the work they are doing. Running a food bank is just the start!

The work of the food bank is only possible due to continuous fund raising. Quiz nights, buffets, awareness raising...

...and of course actually feeding the ones who need it most! The Every One Eats food bank is different whereas they deliver out to people in the community which in turn helps people keep their self respect and stops the stigma of people being ashamed to use a food bank.

They also have done several “pop up” food banks where they have invited people to come for basic store cupboard items and then given them a “meal kit” with a recipe card and ingredients to encourage firstly, people to cook and secondly, families to cook and eat together

There is also a monthly “lunch club” that provides a free two course meal and entertainment on the third Saturday of every month as well as providing a Christmas meal into the community on Christmas Day - two courses and a treat bag for Boxing Day - 150 delivered last year 🎄

So, yesterday I met up with Lindsey to officially launch our support for her charity at the JSCC round at Oulton Park.

For supporting Every One Eats, we don't just give them a monthly donation (and yes, we do that as well), but there will also be fund raising events.

The first one will be next Friday (14th July 2023) at the JSCC Thruxton test day. My dad makes a very popular Gulash (Hungarian meat stew in case you wondered what that is) and will be "giving it away" for a donation of your choice for each portion. So if you are there, please help us to support this brilliant charity.

Even if you were not planning to be there but are in the Andover area, you can pop by (test days are free to attend for spectators), watch our cars on track and support the charity.

Don't worry if you can't make it to the event, there will be many more and I will be more than happy to put you in contact with Lindsey if you want to get involved or support in any way.

To finish off, a quick note on the racing - there has been a lot going on. Great racing, some controversy and the weather is probably worth it's own story, but more on that when all judicials and technical discussions are finalised...
